Congratulations to Airin Dutta on her doctoral defense!

Congratulations to Michael McKay on his doctoral defense, titled “Fault Tolerant Control of Multirotor Vehicles” on October 28, 2021.

Mike will be working as a senior engineer in the Handling Qualities group at Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin Company.

The MOVE PhD students were able to get together on October 7th to celebrate many achievements together after a long year and a half of working remote, including:

  • The graduation of Praneet Vayalali and Michael McKay
  • The marriage of Airin Dutta & Soumik
  • The marriage of Praneet Vayalali & Sai
  • Etana Ferede’s wife, Rosa, moving to the United States
  • Welcoming the new PhD students to the lab

Dr. John-Paul Clarke visited RPI from UT Austin to present the Hemke Lecture, titled “Towards Increasingly Autonomous Aircraft-enabled Mobility,” on October 6th during the Fall 2021 Colloquium Series. Dr. Clarke’s lecture discussed challenges surrounding the adoption of advanced aerial mobility (AAM), specifically focusing on autonomous decision-making.  

Congratulations to Praneet Vayalali on his doctoral defense, entitled "Post-Damage Reconfiguration for Rotorcraft with Control Redundancy" on September 29, 2021. 

Praneet will be working at Volocopter GmbH as a Simulation Engineer in Bruchsal, Germany.
