The Center for Mobility with Vertical Lift (MOVE) graduate student team took third place in the 36th Annual Vertical Flight Society Student Design Competition. This year the challenge was titled "Extreme Altitude Mountain Rescue Vehicle" and students were tasked to design an aircraft capable of search and rescue missions at the summit of Mt Everest, where only one helicopter has ever landed and taken off again. The graduate team proposed Soteria, a synchropter named after the greek goddess of safety and salvation. See the full results at the VFS website.
Congratulations to the MOVE students and faculty on this achievement!
