Four MOVE students were named as recipients of 2019 Vertical Flight Foundation Scholarship awards through the Vertical Flight Society. These awards recognize outstanding students working in vertical flight, with specific awards named in honor of different pioneers of the field. Colin Hamilton, Ariel Walter, Matthew Misiorowski, and Ahmad Amer will be recognized at the VFS Grand Awards Banquet at the Vertical Flight Society's 75th Annual Forum and Technology Display in Philadelphia, in May.
Bachelor Degree Recipient
- Mr. Colin Hamilton : Frank N. Piasecki Scholarship, honoring the inventor of the tandem rotor helicopter.
Master Degree Recipient
- Ms. Ariel Walter : Dr. Michael P. Scully Scholarship, in memory of the US Army Senior Research Engineer Emeritus and VFS Fellow.
Doctorate Degree Recipients
- Mr. Matthew Misiorowski : Bob Lynn Scholarship, named for the Bell Helicopter engineer and executive, and AHS leader par excellence.
- Mr. Ahmad Waleed Amer : Larry Doyle Scholarship, honoring the former Sikorsky Aircraft chief of flight instrumentation.
